Jacques-Louis David painted The Farewell of Telemachus and Eucharis in 1818 during his Brussels exile, depicting the tender parting of the hero Telemachus and the nymph Eucharis from Fénelon's Télémaque. It is a late masterpiece of Neoclassical emotional intensity, now at the J. Paul Getty Museum.
