Samuel Halpert painted The Flatiron Building around 1919, capturing New York's iconic triangular skyscraper in the bold, color-saturated style of early American Modernism. Halpert studied under Henri Matisse in Paris and brought a Post-Impressionist energy to his American urban subjects.
